Brockville Ontario Speedway Gets Ready for 40th Anniversary Season
BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO - It was 40 years ago, in 1969 that Brockville Ontario Speedway embarked on its premier season. Now in 2009, the track is putting forward one of its most ambitious schedules yet for fans of the Beast of the East. This special year will run from mid-May right through until mid-October with visits from the Super DIRT Series tour for Big blocks, 358 Modifieds and Sportsman as well as the winged warriors of the Sprint Car ranks and for the first time in recent memory Late Models.
The high banked quarter mile will feature the same four regular classes that have been thriving the past few seasons, the 358 DIRT Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Street Stocks and Rookies along with semi regular appearances from the Vintage car class. Sportsman car counts are expected to be so high in 2009, that the track has introduced a special purse paying B main for that division to add to the excitement of the average Saturday night of racing.
The 40th anniversary campaign opens up on Saturday May 16th at 7 pm with a full show. The Super DIRT tour events begin on July 4th with the Brockville Motors 40 lapper for the Sportsman then big block stars come a calling north of the border on July 9th for the Coca-Cola 100 lap showdown, with the 358 Modified tour stop, courtesy of Jack May Pontiac on September 12th. Both the Sportsman and 358 Modifieds will have Brockville events as part of the Lucas Oil tour in June and July respectively. Sprint Cars will be on hand for three shows July 18th, August 22nd and October 17th. The Ontario dirt Late Models will pay their first ever visit to the Beast of the East on August 15th. A special advance sale ticket package with some savings for fans has been put together for the August 15 and 22nd events.
Brockville Ontario Speedway will also continue its successful Wednesday night Go Kart racing that continues to grow and expand. The Go-Kart schedule will be released in the near future. The track will host it's annual awards banquet on Saturday March 28th and will open up for a special practice on May 9th to allow drivers to shake down their cars for the opener the next week. It promises to be a year to remember at the Best of the East 40 years after the gates opened for the first time.
