Clugston Construction wins new contracts

Clugston Construction, one of the North’s leading privately owned building and civil engineering contractors is pleased to announce it has been awarded contracts worth over £7million.

The projects include a 9000sqm extension to the Egger UK manufacturing plant in Hexham, an extension to a Nursing Home in Middlesbrough, for Belle Vue Healthcare Ltd and the extension of Redcar Fire Station. Additionally a number of smaller educational projects have also been secured. All the projects are being managed from Clugston Construction’s North East Regional Office in Hebburn.

The work in Redcar, for Cleveland Fire Authority, will see the Fire Station brought up to date with new control facilities and services. It is estimated that over 30 people will be employed from the local communities in Middlesbrough and Redcar during the course of the works and 50 on the project in Hexham.

Clugston named preferred bidder for Energy from Waste project

Privately owned building and civil engineering contractor Clugston Construction has moved a step closer to starting work on the £40m civils element of a new Energy from Waste (EfW) plant in Staffordshire, for waste management organisation Veolia, after the bidding team was recently appointed as the preferred bidder.

The project which is a Joint Venture with French process contractor CNIM will see Clugston Construction provide the civils element for the new facility in Staffordshire, whilst Veolia will manage the Energy from Waste plant as part of the county’s ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ strategy.
After a two year procurement period, the project will run for 25 years and will manage more than 300,000 tonnes of waste per annum. Staffordshire County Council leader Philip Atkins said:

“The contract will save Staffordshire taxpayers more than £250 million over the next 25 years. This contract is all about protecting taxpayers from escalating costs and protecting the environment from mounting piles of rubbish.”

Clugston Construction recently completed work on the £30m civils element of an EfW plant in Sheffield and is preferred bidder for a further four EfW contracts. The civils element for each of these projects is between £30m to £40m in value.
