SPEEDWORLD LEGENDS CHAMP EARNS CANADIAN TITLE

HALIFAX, NS (2005 December 14) - January 2006 will be a big month for 17-year-old Justin MacNeill: on January 14 he will be officially crowned the Scotia Speedworld RV Contacts Legends division champion; just one week later in Charlotte, North Carolina he will be crowned the INEX Legends Canadian Semi-Pro Champion.

MacNeill (Bedford), a grade 12 student at C.P. Allen High School, earned the national honour by accumulating more points than any other Canadian Semi-Pro driver registered with the INEX Legends, sanctioned by 600 Racing out of Charlotte. MacNeill's points were accumulated in Budweiser Weekly Racing events at Scotia Speedworld and in Legends Tour races.

Fellow Nova Scotia driver Chris Johnson, who finished sixth in the RV Contacts Legends division at Speedworld, was second behind MacNeill in the national ranking, and Ontario driver Rob Degeer was third. The INEX season ran from March 18 through September 25.

Besides the Canadian and track titles, MacNeill's strong stats for 05 also earned him the overall East Coast (Canada) regional title with INEX.

MacNeill's previous racing accomplishments include five years go-kart racing where he was a three-time Maritime champion (1999, 2000, 2001), the 2001 CKRA champion and 2001 Atlantic Cup champion.

MacNeill has been racing Legends for four years with a 2002 Maritime Legends Rookie of the Year title and the 2003 Maritime Legends Semi Pro championship precluding his three 05 titles.

Scott MacLean (Pictou, NS), who finished seventh in Scotia Speedworld's RV Contacts Legends division, claimed the 2005 Legends Canadian Pro championship.
