By DIRT MotorSports PR

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (October 28) – With days growing shorter and temperatures beginning to drop throughout the Northeast, race enthusiasts are already looking beyond this season and making plans for the next. The 35th Annual Winter Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in February will be a grand occasion as the 2006 edition will mark DIRT MotorSports,Inc.'s first 'Race Weeks' as owner of the popular Florida facility.

The Florida Tour at Volusia will once again feature the mighty big-block Advance Auto Parts Modifieds from the Northeast during the week leading up to the Daytona 500 (Feb. 19). The preliminary schedule once again includes three 30-lap main events with a 50-lap finale closing out the '06 trip.

"Volusia Speedway Park is an important acquisition for DIRT, continuing our commitment to acquire selected racing facilities to complement our national World of Outlaws touring series and our national and regional dirt racing sanctioning bodies," stated Brian Carter, DIRT MotorSports Chief Financial Officer. "Volusia is recognized today as the southeast's premier dirt track facility. Several of Volusia's biggest events are scheduled to complement NASCAR races at nearby Daytona, attracting both dirt and asphalt fans from all over the country."

DIRT officially completed the purchase of Volusia Speedway Park ---including a 1/2 mile semi-banked oval, 3/8 mile semi-banked asphalt oval and a 1/8 mile banked clay go-kart track--- on June 30. Located a half-hour from Daytona Beach, this famed facility has seating for nearly 10,000 fans. The track is a popular venue for the DIRT owned World of Outlaws Series® and UMP Late Models as well as a variety of other classes.

This coming February, the World of Outlaws Sprint Series (Feb. 9-10) and World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series® (Feb. 16-18) will join the Advance Auto Parts Modifieds (Feb. 15, 16, 17, 18) in kicking off their race season down south, with UMP Super Late Models (Feb. 13, 14, 15 & 17) and UMP Open-Wheel Modifieds (Feb. 7-14) ---also owned by DIRT--- adding to the 11-day DIRT MotorSports marathon. Independent National Late Model and All-Star Sprint specials open up the month before DIRT teams take center stage in the Sunshine State.

Among the 36 DIRT NorthEast drivers competing in four Modified events at Volusia last February, all-time Florida Tour champion Brett Hearn joined Andy Bachetti, Billy Decker and Jamie Mills in victory lane while Hearn and Bachetti tied for the Advance Auto Parts mini-series points title. DIRT Tour '06 marks the 21st trip to Florida for Northeastern Modified teams since 1978 and it will be DIRT's 14th visit to Volusia since staging its inaugural event in 1982 under former owner/operator Dick Murphy.

Fans and race teams already planning to attend Volusia Speedway Park (386/985-4402) are encouraged to contact the track public relations offices for area hotel/motel accomodations. Overnight camping at Volusia is available across the road adjacent to the track for self-contained units.
