Public Hearing Held On Women And Minority Businesses

The Pennsylvania State House Select Committee on Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Inclusion has held three out of four scheduled pubic hearings discussing the inclusion of minority and women owned businesses in the awarding of state contracts. State Representative Jake Wheatley is the committee's chairman and says once the final public hearing is held the committee will get to work reviewing testimony given at the hearings and will work on formulating recommendations on how the commonwealth can ensure equal opportunities for minority and women owned businesses. Wheatley says that it seems the commonwealth needs an advisory board or committee to investigate and ensure that all contracts that are awarded to minority and women owned businesses actually go to them.
