ASCS Sprints on Dirt Set for South Buxton

TULSA, OK (May 21, 2007) – The nation's tightest championship points race moves north of the border this weekend, as the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz invade South Buxton Raceway in Merlin, Ontario Canada this Saturday night.

And the championship points race couldn't possibly be closer, as Goshen, Indiana's Brett Mann and two-time series champion Tim Norman of Warsaw, IN, are deadlocked for the point lead entering Saturday's event.

While neither Norman nor Mann has broken into ASCS Sprints on Dirt victory lane through the opening three events of the season, the duo has been among the frontrunners each night to climb to the top of the point charts.

Mann has a third-place run to go along with a pair of fifth-place showings, while Norman has a runner-up finish along with fifth and sixth-place showings.

Twenty-four points off the lead duo's pace is Ohio's Mike Brecht, with the Michigan duo of Joe Bares (Traverse City) and Bill Johnson (Linden) rounding out the current top five.

The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Sprints on Dirt points includes J.R. Stewart (Bellefontaine, OH), Ben Rutan (Jerome, MI), rookie contender Ryan Ruhl (Angola, IN), Gary Fast (Kalkaska, MI) and Kirk Cheney (Hastings, MI).

Gregg Dalman was triumphant in last year's ASCS Sprints on Dirt stop at South Buxton Raceway.

Saturday's racing action is set to fire off at 7:00 p.m.

The 28th year of action for the ASCS Sprints on Dirt consists of 20 championship events at ten different tracks throughout Michigan as well as Ontario.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
