Shane Jantzi qualified 15th for the Freedom 100 at Indy

From Glenn Butt:

Ayr, ON – May 24, 2007: Shane Jantzi’s two lap average speed in qualifying was 185.999 mph, putting him in the 15th starting position on the grid for the Freedom 100 Indy Pro Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Friday, May 25, 2007.

Fifth out for his qualifying attempt, it was apparent Shane Jantzi’s third starting position would not hold up for long as track conditions were improving through the session due to a cloud cover coming in cooling track temperatures,

None the less, there are smiles all around the Jantzi camp as nobody can complain about the performance this multi time Ontario Formula Ford Champion (OFFC) has put forth here at Indy. A test with Brian Stewart Racing, awarded to Shane following the ’06 OFFC title, resulted in Brian and Shane putting together this opportunity to compete at Indy. Brian Stewart Racing has gone the extra mile in this case giving a Canadian driver a shot at something big and often out of reach. Long time Jantzi sponsor Maizex Seeds Inc. of Tilbury, ON were also quick to support Shane’s first outing in the Indy Pro Series.

Teams now go to work on race setup with one more practice session today starting at 3:40 p.m.

The Freedom 100 marks Shane’s rookie debut race in the Indy Pro Series. Jantzi will compete against a crop of veterans and rookies with three races under their belt already this year and countless laps of pre-season testing. The Freedom 100 takes the green flag at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2007. You can watch live video and timing courtesy of www.indycar.com. Just click on the live video feed.
