NCATS: New car, new series and Thomson is ready to go racing

Don Thomson Jr. and the entire Home Hardware team have spent months getting ready for the 2007 racing season, and with a brand new race car they are ready to challenge for the championship in the new NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS).

Thomson and the Fitzpatrick Motorsports team were on track for the first test session of the year at Cayuga Speedway in mid May preparing for the first 200 lap event of the season. Test days are necessary to provide useful information to the team about how the car behaves during circumstances and overall the team was pleased with what they learned.

“It’s been a very busy winter at the Fitzpatrick Motorsports shop” said Home Hardware Chevrolet driver Don Thomson Jr. “The team has put a lot of work into building this new car for me and after a little hiccup at the start of the test day I think we’re ready to go racing. There was a minor issue with wheel bearings that got us off to a slow start but the new Home Hardware Chevy should be a very good race car for us this season.

As we quickly approach the first event of the new NCATS the entire Fitzpatrick Motorsports team is really looking forward to the new series. “Having NASCAR come on board with this new series is great” said Thomson. “They’ve proven what they can do for the sport and we’re all on board to help make this the best racing series in Canada”.

The first event of the new NASCAR Canadian Tire series will take place this Saturday, May 26th at Cayuga Speedway near Hamilton, Ontario. Green Flag is scheduled for 8PM.
