(Oct. 26, 2010) - It has been a very busy week for area athletes in regard to finalizing their college plans five Loudoun athletes are in the news.

*At Loudoun County, Sammy Dormio announced she will play volleyball at Keene State and Raider baseball player Tyler Saleck has accpeted an appointment to the Air Force Academy.

*In softball, Stone Bridge's Cori Prince will play next year at George

Softball: Broad Run's Maggie Betz to Play at NCAA Division I Hartford

Asbhurn (Oct. 19, 2010) - Broad Run High School senior Maggie Betz has made a verbal commitment to play softball at NCAA Division I the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

The Hawks play in the America East Conference.

Betz plays third base for the Spartans where she was named first team All Dulles District in 2010 as well as first team Region II and honorable mention AA all-state.

Softball: Stone Bridge Catcher Lewis to Play at NCAA Division I Wagner

(Oct. 15, 2010) - Stone Bridge High School senior catcher Beth Lewis has accepted a scholarship offer from NCAA Division I Wagner College and will be joining the Seahawks next fall.

Wagner, located on Staten Island in New York City, plays in the Northeastern Conference.

Softball: Loudoun Valley's Carli Johnson Makes First Team All-Region

(June 17, 2010) - Loudoun Valley High School senior catcher Karli Johnson has been named first team All-Northwest Region in a vote of the region softball coaches.

Softball: Briar Woods and Loudoun Valley Have Seasons End in State Quarterfinals

(June 9, 2010) - The Briar Woods High School and Loudoun Valley High School softball seasons came to an end Tuesday with both teams falling in the state quarterfinals, the Falcons at Powhatan, 4-0, in AA and the Vikings at Madison, 6-1, in AAA.

(June 3, 2010) - Loudoun teams made a huge STATEment Wednesday night as they won 10 of 12 regional semifinal contests to advance to Frdiay's regional finals and qualify for next week's state tournament.

In all, seven soccer teams from Loudoun will be playing in States including Broad Run boys and girls, Stone Bridge boys and girls, Loudoun Valley and Loudoun County girls and Potomac Falls boys.

Northern Region Playoffs: Stone Bridge Softball Advances to Quarterfinals, SB Baseball Ends Season

(May 29, 2010) - The Stone Bridge High School softball team advanced to the AAA Northern Region quarterfinals on Memorial Day with a 4-0 win Friday at Yorktown.

The Bulldogs will face South County at 4 p.m. at Falls Church High School. Stone Bridge (14-8 overall) pounded out eight hits against the Patirots and Allie Brill went the distance picking up the win on a 2-hitter.

Softball: Potomac Falls Junior Pitcher Kiefer Makes Verbal Commitment to James Madison

(Feb. 14, 2010) - Potomac Falls High School junior pitcher Heather Kiefer has made a verbal commitment to play at NCAA Division I James Madison University starting in 2011-12.

The Dukes are the defending Colonial Athletic Association softball tournament champions coming off of their first ever NCAA appearance in 2009.

Softball: Loudoun County Selects Former Washington Glory Pro Amber Jackson to Lead Raiders

Leesburg (Dec. 4, 2009) - Loudoun County High School has hired former Washington Glory professional softball player Amber Jackson to replace Ryan Vance, who has stepped down after three seasons as LC's varsity head coach.


Jackson, a three-time All-American at Bethune-Cookman before finishing up as an All-ACC player at Maryland, was named the 2007 National Pro Fastpicth Player of the Year after
