June 1, 2010. A new competitor is coming to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Twenty One year old Caitlin Johnston of Orangeville, Ontario will take temporary leave of her Formula Ford schedule and make her first stock car appearance at Mosport International Raceway the weekend of June 12 & 13. The opportunity to race in the premiere Canadian racing series is one that the Johnston is really looking forward to. “We were looking at a few different options for this year but after some discussions this seemed like the best fit” said Johnston. “This is something that I’m really excited about and trying and with these two races it’s an excellent fit for our sponsor Pizza Pizza” she added.

The young female racer will have plenty of experience to draw on as she makes her initial foray into Stock car racing. Caitlin has driven countless laps on the challenging Mosport Road course in other racing disciplines. “I feel really comfortable on the track at Mosport” Johnston stated enthusiastically. “I would consider Mosport to be my second home” she added.

There will be plenty of racing experience to draw on from the team as well. The #01Pizza Pizza Dodge will be prepared in a joint venture of DJ Kennington’s DJK Racing and another former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series competitor Derek Lynch. Lynch will also serve as Crew Chief for Johnston. Caitlin Johnston is very pleased to have such a solid and successful group for support. “I’m really looking forward to working with both of them” she said

This effort in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series is a continuation of the long term partnership between Caitlin Johnston and Pizza Pizza. “I’m proud to have had Pizza Pizza as a sponsor for about six years now” said the driver. “I’ve also been involved in some great charity work with the company. I’ve been making about 12 to 15 appearances at stores over the last few years meeting lots of great kids, posing for pictures and signing autographs, it’s been a lot of fun and very rewarding” she concluded.
