WETASKIWIN, AB – For the first time in western Canada, CASCAR and NASCAR in the same event! The Lilydale NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Super Late Models race every Saturday at Edmonton Int’l Raceway and this Saturday, Edmonton Int’l Raceway (EIR) also hosts the Competition Chev CASCAR 200. Fans will be treated to 200 laps of door-to-door CASCAR racing on EIR’s ¼ mile paved oval along with a 40 lap NASCAR Super Late Model Feature.

This double header also brings together Western Canada’s most accomplished race families, the Dowlers. Long time CASCAR Racer, Kevin Dowler is currently leading the CASCAR Western Series, NASCAR Racers Rob, Terry and Aarron Dowler all compete in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series at EIR. Famous racing fathers include Eric, Noel and George Dowler who all have significant racing histories of their own. Now their sons carry on the family racing name.

Fort Saskatchewan racer, James VanDomselaar is currently in 9th place. The top three winners of the CASCAR 200 at EIR in 2004 were Daryl Harr, Kevin Dowler and James VanDomselaar. Kevin Dowler won in 2003 so he is anxious to regain his title for this 2005 race.

In the Lilydale NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Super Late Models #33 Jeremy Lapainis from Airdrie leads the points and is sitting in 12th in Division II of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series, competing against racers throughout Eastern Canada and the United States. #07 Greg Moir from Stony Plain is a close 2nd and Wetaskiwin racer #12 Wes Ratzlaff follows in third.
