Micks and PowerWater racing for a cure

“No one at Micks Motorsports ever gives up easily on or off the track.”

August 18, 2005, Mt. Albert, ON - The team of Kerry Micks and the rest of the PowerWater crew will enter this weekend’s CASCAR Super Series event at Peterborough Speedway with very heavy hearts.

It has come to the team’s attention in the last few days that Darrin Moss, Vice President Marketing for PowerWater, has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia (ALL). Another name for this is T-cell Leukemia. Darrin is undertaking very aggressive treatment because this is a very rapid form of Leukemia.

“Our thoughts and our prayers are with Darrin right now,” stated Kerry Micks. “This team has raised a lot of money and awareness for Leukemia over the past few years, but we still feel totally lost when someone so close and so young is diagnosed with this terrible disease.”

No one at Micks Motorsports ever gives up easily on or off the track, so starting this weekend, Kerry and his team will be selling the “Relentless Wristbands” as part of our “Racing for a Cure” program. “These wrist bands show that we are relentless in finding a cure for all forms of Leukemia,” stated Micks. “By purchasing wrist bands, the public will be helping to raise money for a cure and will also be helping Darrin and his immediate family get through the very long days and nights ahead in his fight for a cure.”

“Darrin has been one of my biggest supporters and one of the reasons that PowerWater is so heavily involved in CASCAR racing as a whole, Micks went on to say. “I am again going to ask the CASCAR family for their support to help one of our own in this time of need.”

Micks, with three wins this season in the PowerWater Micks Motorsports Ford, sits in sixth position in the 2005 CASCAR Super Series Points Championship.

The CASCAR Super Series race will take place Saturday, August 20 on Canada's fastest 1/3rd-mile paved oval at Peterborough Speedway, located at Peterborough, Ontario.
