CELEBRATION OF MOTORSPORT: Ontario Road Racing Season Wraps Up October 1-2 At Mosport With CASC-OR Celebration Of Motorsport

The final road racing event of the season, the CASC Ontario Region Celebration of Motorsport takes place at Mosport the weekend of October 1-2.

CASC-OR's complimentary ticket program, supported by Inside Track, continues through this final event, with tickets available online through the CASC Ontario Region website at www.casc.on.ca or by calling the office at 416-667-9500.

This event will be the deciding round in a number of road racing championships.

There are only three points difference between the three leading drivers in the Honda Michelin Challenge Series going into this weekend's penultimate round at Mont Tremblant so Mosport will certainly decide the title.

In the Ontario Challenge Cup to decides the road racing champion of Ontario, Bob Armstrong of North Gower leads but Greg Beresford of Conestogo and Rob Microys of Gloucester are both only one good finish out of first place.

In the Touring GT Championship, Ontario's premier road racing series for modified production cars, Barrie's Scott Nicol leads the overall championship and the Touring class while Andrew Wojteczo of Caledon East leads Super GT and Alan Jones Jr. of Mississauga leads the GT category.

In the Isseco F1200 Championship Pickering's Frank Steinhausen leads but one poor finish on his part in the three weekend races will put Chris Hart of Bowmanville into first, and Michael Raekelboom of Caledon East still has a chance if the first two have significant problems.

In addition to the road racing activity, the 2005 Solo Ontario Top Gun Shootout will be taking place on Sunday October 2 at the Mosport Driver Development Track (adjacent to the main track). This is a special "best of the best" event where the top 70 competitors in CASC Ontario Region Solo 1 and 2 competition will compete on the same circuit to go into the final shootout. The Top Gun Shootout pits the best drivers from each class against the course in the same car (supplied courtesy of Mazda Canada). This competition will be a pure test of driver skill and will crown the overall Ontario Solo 1 & 2 Champion.

The whole Mosport facility will of course be open for this event, camping is free for the brave of heart and warm of blood, and this is always one of the best events every year - so come out and get your last taste of road racing for the 2005 season in Ontario.
