ONTARIO – Ontario’s league of grassroots stock car racing, the Lucas Oil Weekend Warrior Series, is preparing to crown it’s first ever Weekend Warrior Champion in just a couple weeks. The whole season builds to a climactic finish at Peterborough Speedway’s Lucas Oil Autumn Colours Classic on the weekend of October 8th and 9th, with the final feature races of the season for both conferences of Ontario Late Model competition.

In the immediate future are the season finales of Kawartha Speedway, Delaware Speedway, and Sunset Speedway this weekend. The top contenders for the inaugural Lucas Cup are all stationed in Conference B, as John Gaunt, Stompin’ Tom Walters, and ‘Quick’ Vic Parsons prepare for the final few showdowns. On the other side, Conference A, Pete Vanderwyst is desperately clinging to a stale point lead as David Elliott has turned it up a notch in the past couple weeks, determined to unseat the Delaware hotshoe and become the conference champ.

Following below are the current standings of the Lucas Oil WWS, showing the top 50 drivers in each conference of Ontario Late Model competition. This is just half of the WWS registered roster of 2005, with more than 200 drivers having taken part in this initial year.
